Pics on the move at last - a brief escape from family... I can hear kookaburras now and then, and a few other birds. This is Sugarloaf Reservoir, which helps keep Melbourne in water...
Oh, and I just looked across the road - those dots are kangaroos... *g*
Kangaroos and cold skin (although I'm freezing right now, cos the window in my room doesn't shut properly. It's wedged with a towel, but 5C is on the chilly side! I'm not wishing quite as much heat back, but... maybe just a little?!
Hope you enjoyed your reprieve though - and even if it warms up again, winter's coming, up your way! *g*
Blimey, actual kangaroos just wandering about? *g* (I mean, of course why wouldn't they. They're at home. But omg kangaroos!) Wonderful :-)))) Also, hope "escape" doesn't mean too much stressfulness ... ??? What beautiful scenery, though! ::waves from other side of planet:: (I will never not be amazed that one can do that) *vbg*
Hee - yeah, they do wander about in that area, which is cool. But they don't wander everywhere, so it's still nice to see them - we've made it hard for them to be at home in lots of places... I hardly ever saw them when I grew up here, whether because we were just in the wrong area for them in general, or because they'd been chased away long ago... so it's always cool to turn around and see them now! I have a cool photo of an emu and baby emus to post one of these days too... *vbg*
And yes! Isn't it fab to be able to wave from the other side of the planet, and for someone to see you almost instantly!
ETA - oh, and yeah... family stressfulness, from all directions in different ways! But then I had a lovely day with my brother and nephew especially, yesterday, so that helped!

Really lovely pictures. And while I'd be amazed to see kangaroos, were you, really? *g* It sounds as if you're having a lovely time, having to escape family notwithstanding. :-)
And actually, although I wasn't amazed to see the kangaroos, I was pleased to see them. Growing up, we hardly ever saw kangaroos, either because we were in the wrong area for them in the first place (although we moved around a fair bit, so that's alot of wrong area) or because they'd been chased away by all the people-activity. The place where I took the photo was reasonably busy with humans too - I was standing on the road that went by (and across) a reservoir that was used for picniccers and hikers and so on, and there'd been noisy motorbikes on it about ten minutes before. So the kangaroos must have worked out how to be at home with all of that!
Family can be... awkward. But so far I've survived - and they can be cool too. I've just been contacted by the son of a cousin no one really knows, who was wondering about our family tree. He's dead keen, and it turns out he only lives three hours away, so I'm hoping to go up and meet him and have a chat. He's also got a one year old son, and sounded so pleased about it, which is always lovely to hear!
I love the fotos! Everything looks so green, compared to Germany and the US. Though it's to be expected, with Australia at the end of winter, I guess. *g* Is everything okay otherwise, with the family? How are you getting around there? Do you have use of a car?
It does look quite green - they've had some decent rainfall in this part of the country, but up north in New South Wales they've had a drought that's been really hard on the farmers, even though it's been winter, so...
Things are... always a bit stressful with the various parts of my family, but I had a nice day with them yesterday, so that was good!
I've got a hire car to get around at the moment - I'll take it back in a week, and hopefully fly up to see Uluru for a few days, then come back and hire a car again. It's mostly so that I can go and see mum, which is half the point of me being here, because she's half an hour's drive away from where I'm staying with my sister, and because she likes being "kidnapped" from the home she's in, and going out on drives. Which is getting more complicated as she gets older, but should be done while it's still doable, I reckon...

We got a reprieve from it here, but it's supposed to heat up again next week.
