Some days suck, and so do some other days, but sometimes things come in the post that just make you grin and grin and grin... And today it was Jane Asher's Fancy Dress (1983), that I've been meaning to buy for ages, and succumbed to yesterday (cos it was really cheap) - and it arrived today! And... three pages of Martin Shaw dressed as a sandwich!

Aaaaaand... as a "jailbird"...

How can you not grin wildly at that! Happy Friday! *g*

Oh wow, these are fabulous! I love the ham sandwich...and the sandwich spread...and the open...oh, I love them all. But, my goodness, the jailbird...*g* Heh. Thank you for sharing these!

I haven't seen these for ages -- they're such a hoot!

Shame about those trousers, though *vbg*.

Oh, this is just too cute. And the look on his face as a jailbird...priceless!

You just made my Friday! I've never seen them before - they're hysterical. Serious, sniffy actor? I don't think so *g*

And the bit about being the envy of a packed lunch... ::sniggers::

These are adorable. He looks like he's enjoying the silliness a lot. I just love the little tail on the jailbird - all it needs is a Bodie hand sneaking into the picture to give it a good tweak.

Thank you for sharing this! The only picture I'd seen before was 'chicken sandwich'. It all makes sense now. :)

Happy Friday to you too!

That is such a fun book anyway and then Martin Shaw just pushes it right over the top. *g*

The ham sandwich is the one that has me giggling although the jail bird is the one giving me ideas. Ahem...

Thanks for sharing. :D

Perfect lunchtime reading. I love Jane Asher's tongue in cheek intro, 'the demanding role of a sandwich...'

Imagine finding that in your packed lunch! Yummo.

He still has the Doyle look, doesn't he? It even looks like he's wearing one of D's t shirts. And his arm in the chicken sandwich pic! Thanks so much for sharing these. I don't think I've ever seen all the pages before.

By most accounts MS is a very funny person in rl.

Thanks for posting these. The first time I saw them I instantly added them to my list of things to thank Jane Asher for. She also provided the inspiration for many a wonderful childhood birthday cake. The woman deserves some love. :)

I had no idea about Jane Asher either - we had Alison Holst (I knew Maggie Fulton though, because of the Weekly).

Anyway - Martin! Love the expressions and the poses. That jailbird!!!

You are right! How can you NOT grin! :-)
Thank you for cheering us up!
And I think he had a lot of fun too!
(Although those trousers... - maybe he first thought he would have to play a more serious role... :-))

I had no clue you hadn't seen these since they've been up on CI5 Addict's website for a good while, even before I got my copy of the book last year at a con. I never think of posting stuff because I guess I think I'm 30 years too late and everybody's seen all that's out there already. Shows you what I know.

I think the article is darned cute and MS obviously has a good sense of humour. Still, it's great seeing this again so thanks. And I can see that plenty of other folks haven't seen them as well, so you're sharing the lurv.

Oh, 'tis brilliant! All those takes on sandwiches, a spread sandwich, a club sandwich, a cheese sandwich (that grin!), an open sandwich... Hee!

Was in need of laughs, so thanks for sharing!

Even though I've been in the fandom for a good few years these pictures are all completely new to me - I had no idea he'd done this shoot and I'd never heard of Jane Asher's book, so thanks for that! And it's amazing when you think how many actors know each other as friends - as far as acting goes, it really does seem to be a small world.
