I hate to say this, but my lj is glitching alot tonight. I hope that's all it is, just glitches (or else my internet rather than my lj), but like alot of people I'm worried about the effect that sanctions etc. is going to have on our access to lj, and only hope we're small enough fry to fly under the radar... you know, and other mixed metaphors...

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat (very thank you!), I've managed to save my 17 years of lj entries as Word documents to my own hard drive - phew! I've been wanting something like this programme for ages, and this actually worked - BlogBooker. I paid for the "Standard" package, and it seems to have done the trick, though I don't think I have much of it left - my lj runs to nearly 2000 pages for some years, and two years were actually too big to be opened as Word docs due to all the images I posted, so I'm going to have to fiddle around with them (there's a work-around in Word for docs bigger than 512mb...)

I've also backed up/re-imported my lj to Dreamwidth (same user name if anyone wants to find me *g*), despite my many reservations, and also [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj, [livejournal.com profile] ci5hq, and [livejournal.com profile] prosficindex (which is less useful because dw doesn't seem to have sticky posts so we can keep the index at the top...) I'm working on [livejournal.com profile] ci5hq_dnoticed and [livejournal.com profile] prosrecordsroom (Palelyloitering), but they're currently importing everything except journal entries and comments... *headdesk*

I'm very much hoping that [livejournal.com profile] kiwisue is re-backing up [livejournal.com profile] the_safehouse (she's the current owner) and that the owners of other lj comms are doing something similar somewhere - I hate that we might lose so much of our history... that a man waging war can do so much damage to something that (mostly) women have created as their space for so long...

What I really wanted to post was my pond pictures, and my three squirrels, and my two lads. Let's have some lads, anyway.

Oh! And whilst I'm here - some pics for [livejournal.com profile] krisserci5 and the Zoom gang, from a conversation this afternoon. They're from Fabulous magazine, way back in 1965... *g*

How're you all doing out there?
byslantedlight: (Default)
So much for going outside today, I seem to have found a new place to find fab things about our lads... *g*
1978-02-25 LCshooting(DailyMirror) 1979-03-10 BD TenderToughies (DailyMirror)

1979-08-17 BDSteveLister(DailyMirror) 1976-04-29 SpiceIslandFarewell (EveningExpress)

Double-click to read them more easily - though they're not the best quality. But still - all new articles to me, and pictures of our lads, too! *g* Happy Saturday!

I've just seen the news - our LC, so sad...

Rest in Peace, I hope it was wonderful for you, and thank you...

Just cos...

...I am totally charmed by this...

Capped from Greenheart's vid of the lads accepting the 1981 TV Times award for Most Compelling Male Actors on TV (we knew that! *g*), which was posted by [livejournal.com profile] jaycat92 over at [livejournal.com profile] the_safehouse, which bless 'em always makes me wince a bit (the vid of them accepting the award, not the Safehouse... *g*) cos they're so not smooth - but then that's why I adore them, too... Anyway - I'm very glad I watched it through to the end this time, because I'm not sure I've ever seen them sitting back down at their own wee table before... Just... doesn't it make you want to watch them hug each other hug them? *vbg*

The weirdest thing...

...my flist has been empty since I posted to [livejournal.com profile] scene_again myself last night! I think that's the first time since... well, since I had a flist, almost! The planes came back, and everyone here vanished overnight! *g*

Is anyone out there? Was the rest of the world swallowed up, and I've just not read the papers yet? Hello?

We'd better have a couple of pics of the lads, just to fill in time... *g*

I've not seen Who Dares Wins for ages - in fact I may have only seen it once, in fact... I feel as if I probably remember it better than I probably actually do, if that makes any sense. Not least cos there's Prosfic... *g*

Ramblings on our lad... and a pic or two... *g* )

So, me little Lewis-Collins-loving flist, who has heard LC narrating "The Siege", as directed by Robert Garofolo, as recently advertised on Ebay, and posted about by me?

Because that wasn't him! Might I just say - grrrrrr?

My internet is being seriously dodgy this morning, so every time I think I'll do something it takes me three times as long. So while I've been waiting I've been dipping into The Book... *g*

From a description of "When the Heat Cools Off":
Michael Sheard (Merton): "I'd been employed to play a small role set in Cowley's office, with the three leads, as a gun expert. The director, Ray Austin, had the clever idea that we could throw the gun to each other rather than just pass it. Martin and Lewis were a riot; each time I threw it they'd drop it, and burst into fits of laughter. They kept apologising to Ray and telling him the gun was slippery, but it's obvious they were letting it drop on purpose. It took quite a few takes to complete the scene, and in the end even Gordon Jackson was pleased when Ray was content with the final sequence and called it a wrap. I read somewhere later that Martin and Lewis didn't see eye-to-eye during the production; that I find hard to believe on what I witnessed during my day on the show!"

I love it - our lads are complete and utter eejits, but they were absolutely together in their eejiocy! *vbg* Those reports of them hating each other just doesn't fit with what we really know! *sighs happily, wanders off to see if this'll post...*

LC - Sailing!

byslantedlight: (Bodie delicious (crimson37))
I meant to be up and about and perhaps walking, or at least wandering, or something - but I've been doing something much more fun and very useful too. I've been tidying and sorting out! My zines and other Prosfic. *g* I've had a pile of stories and so on sitting waiting for me since last Nattercon, and now and then I've picked one up and read it and loved it or not and filed it, but there's an awful lot of Jane in there, and it was most multimedia zines too, so I've been slow about it...

But today I found an LC thing, to balance last night's MS thing! *g*

It's a scan from a photocopy, which is why it's not brilliant quality, but... It's in an original For Auld Lang Syne zine (which for some reason I don't have listed in palelyloitering - must fix that!), but because it's not artwork as such, and because I've only ever seen a tiny version of this pic and others from that photoshoot - I think it can be reproduced here, right? It's not like it was Jane's to start with, she just included it in her zine! We need to see these things!

So, please do. *vbg*

So to celebrate having lj back - and they were up an hour before they said they'd be as well, go them! - and the fact that there are only five more slots to fill for the [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj Discovered Whilst A-Carolling Challenge, and the fact that I've finally finished writing my first teaching job application for nearly 20 years (erk!) and it's all in an envelope with a stamp and everything ready to be sent off tomorrow...

... I thought I'd do some Pros-y scanning as well. *g*
