While I've got the scanner out... and other happy things!

So to celebrate having lj back - and they were up an hour before they said they'd be as well, go them! - and the fact that there are only five more slots to fill for the
discoveredinalj Discovered Whilst A-Carolling Challenge, and the fact that I've finally finished writing my first teaching job application for nearly 20 years (erk!) and it's all in an envelope with a stamp and everything ready to be sent off tomorrow...
... I thought I'd do some Pros-y scanning as well. *g*
So here's LC... and a little one of MS with him in the corner, and I'd love to know what they're doing/where they are cos lool - MS is wearing a black poloneck, and LC has got his skydiving jumper on! Does anyone have any other pics from that shoot?!

Someone clever than I with photoshop and the likes may be able to stitch our lad his ear back on... and someone clever who actually speaks German might be able to tell us if there's anything juicy in there... *g* It's from Bravo, and annoyingly enough I only have the loose pages, with no dates or anything... I'm sure lots of people have seen it too, but... it's never bad seeing the lads twice, is it? *g* Speaking of which...
... here's MS in A Streetcar Named Desire
which I know we've had before - definitely here at Metabollick's lj where she posted the programme, but I also knew as soon as I got to the fourth page scan of MS by those twisty stairs in that fab lighting that someone else had posted that pic as well - who was it? Was it our Londonronnie? Our AngelCI5? Someone else altogether? (If it was actually me then I'll cringe alot... *g*) Hope you don't mind seeing it again, in any case... These are from the May 1974 edition of Plays and Players:

I love what it says about our lad's acting: "Mr Shaw, unlike many English actors, is not afraid to let go and, at times, he can make the theatre quake." How fabulous is that? I really wish I'd seen him on stage back then... *sighs*
Right - and now that I'm up late enough to be shattered for uni tomorrow, I shall go and read myself to sleep with the last few pages of Kitty Fisher's Paper Flowers zine - another favourite!

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 08:16 am (UTC)Hmmn - you know, now that I think about it - does it work the other way at MP as well? Can scans that are in their archive be put more publically into lj posts? I keep thinking that I'd like to use some of the things there for MGBTOWTLHD, but of course I can't link to a yahoo archive so I'd have to re-post them first... I know G has said that it's all for sharing, but I've never specifically asked that before...

“Who dares wins” the name of his new movie could be the motto of the cool Professional Lewis Collins.
Sunburnt – he got his tan in the Caribbean over Christmas – he started filming the 11th.of January in Pinewood-Studios London.
Lewis, his friend called him Lew, plays a
hardcookedhardboiled secret agent who fears nothing. There will be a lot of hard action, secret missions and killing of enemies – just like he has done it as Bodie in the Professionals. At the moment he is quite obsessed with his movie. Questions about more details he answered quite ironically with: “Sorry, top secret!”
What he can tell, is how hard his training for Pros had been, although he had been sporting before. He is pistol shooting champion, is perfect in biking (he has four motorcycles), is owner of the black belt in judo (comment of firlefanzine: I have the green belt! :-)), and is a paratrooper. No fun for the bad boys even in RL!
… (The reporter tells the same facts in other words – I leave it)
Lew did work hard for his success. About his youth he doesn’t like to talk. In his hometown Liverpool he worked as hair dresser trainee, teamster, shop assistant for clothes and waiter in a quayside bar.
He still has a close relationship to his father Bill Collins…
(some more details about his father).
Influenced by his father and Mike McGear, the brother of Paul McCartney, he had the idea to join(? OMG…) the showbiz.
Together with Mike, who was also a hair dresser trainee, he spent many evenings on testing the newest hair styles.
To be continued… ;-)

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 10:34 pm (UTC)Love the "Top Secret!" answer he gave them! *g* And a black belt eh (and you a green belt - good for you! I've always fancied trying it, but... maybe when I'm a bit more settled!)
Looking forward to your being-continued now!
You're a star - thank you! *vbg*

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 08:35 am (UTC)someone else had posted that pic as well - who was it?
Hee, that was me! *g* At your request I think , cos it's one of my icons *points up* and you asked to see the full version... it's such a stunning pic isn't it!
Oh and the little pic of them in the corner is on a boat in Gibralter iirc...?
Thanks for these!
*grabs coffee & dashes back to the office*

Also - Gibraltar?! Whatever were they doing in Gibraltar? When? Why? Oh, tell me they were on holiday together... *g*
*is intrigued and dashes upstairs to find books for assignment-apparently-not-essay-after-all, thinking all the time of our lads in Gibraltar together...*

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 09:53 pm (UTC)Hee! Weell, almost *g*... AFAIK they were guests of the Navy, and just doing stuff with them (like sailing) for a magazine (TVT I think)... and I know I had some notes on this, cos I bought some pics and the collector told me what he knew about them, and I wrote it all down (yes, I am that sad!) and I deliberately kept it all with the pics cos I was fascinated..., but I can't find them now! *headdesk* Unfortunately I don't have all my stuff to hand... from memory it was 1979 (I think).
Londonronnie may know more, and I can scan the TVT article which features it if you haven't seen it already, I'm sure you'll recognise the pics.

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 10:01 pm (UTC)I'd love to see the TVT article, if it's not too much trouble! I'm not sure I know the pics at all if they're wearing the same clothes as above - as I keep lamenting though, I'm one of these people who can never afford to catch scrapbooks and articles at current prices on ebay etc, there's always someone wealthier who wants them badly, so unless they've been shared online in the last couple of years I've not seen half this stuff!
Oooh - I'm all excited now! *vbg*

I'm not sure I know the pics at all if they're wearing the same clothes as above
I don't think any of them are from that set with those clothes actually... sure I can scan the mag article, though londonronnie might be able to do it quicker, I won't have a chance before the w/e at the soonest, and you may have to give me a kick to remind me! *g*

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 10:36 pm (UTC)It would be fab to see the mag article, from whichever of you gets to it first - and be assured that there will be kicking if I see no sign of it by next week! (And weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth... *g*)
Yeay! And thank you! And omg, the lads together in Gibraltar... *sighs happily*

Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2008 08:42 pm (UTC)I've got a few pics and magazine clippings of the lads' trip there, but I'm still trying to piece together exactly what they were up to, so any little snippets would be much appreciated! *g*
